3 Ps

I read an essay from a book for the well-known coach John Wooden and got the following sights.

It's said that nowadays many just talked of performances and so pressure arises.
But what's more important and really matter is our having patience.

So the three Ps are more of Patience first rather than Performances under Pressures.

Then I just think of the following three questions, how can we coordinate well for these three ?

Do we lose patience with poor performance under pressure ?
Do we get better performance without pressure with more patience ?
Can we pressure ourselves for better performances together with patience ?

EPA in Numbers 9-10

I read Raymond Brown's book on Numbers of the BST series this morning.
I happened to find his exposition of ch 9-10 with the title of Three Dimensional Grace.

What he emphasized as the key words shown are Encouragement(E)from the past,Priorities (P)in the present and Assurances(A)for the future.

This is not Economics and Public Affairs (EPA) as we learnt in High school years BUT God's abundant provisons for His chosen people in the past as well as in we Churches these days.

Do we have encouragements in our past walk with the Spirit,
Experiencing His disciplined prirorities in our daily lives now and have
Loving assurances from our Heavenly Father as we face up tomorrow ?

It's really important to have these EPAs to be our new perspective.

On the 3 Es

The London Institute for Contemporary Christianity (LICC) is John Stott's invention.

This morning I received a recent note from their news. One is about their student ministry as follows:

Big Weekend: Equipping and Envisioning the Student Generation of the Church in the UK (11-13 Feb 2011)

I happened to take note of the key words in the title mentioned : equipping, envisioning and myself at once to add on a more conspicuous word empowering as used often these days everywhere. And so I got finally these 3 E s, i.e. Equipping, Envisioning and Empowering.

Are these three also what's mostly needed in our church nourishing and discipling ministries ?

From The Wisdom of Small Creatures -- New Year Wonder and Simplicity

 Adopt God's seemingly incongruous perspective. 收納奧妙

Conclusion

Simplicity and Wonder By Roy Lessin

Truly I tell you, whoever does not receive and accept and welcome the kingdom of God like a little child [does] positively shall not enter it at all. Mark 10:15

As we begin our walk with God in 2011 we need to guard our hearts against certain attitudes that will keep us far from His heart. These include the mind of the proud who wants to know it all; the opinion of the critic who wants to judge it all; the attitude of the narcissist who wants to be it all; the desire of the covetous who wants to have it all.

Instead, walk with God in 2011 as a child. Never lose the simplicity of trust and the world of wonder that a child lives in from day to day. Walk with your eyes on your Father

— happy in His presence, content in His care, awed by His greatness, delighted by His surprises, secure in His love.

Let your prayer be similar to one spoken by Vance Havner, “Lord, let me never get used to living. Keep afresh in my heart a childlike wonder. Above all, let me never get used to being a Christian. Let me walk with a constant sense of surprise and expectancy. Why should there be a dull moment in the life of a Christian when every hour is a fresh adventure in faith and love?”

The following quote became the signature of the life of Gypsy Smith, the well known evangelist who lived into his eighties, “I have never lost the wonder.” May you never lose the simplicity of trusting His love and the wonder of watching Him work in marvelous ways.

Quotes from Aspire by Kevin Hall

The masters in the art of living make little distinction between their work and their play, their labour and their leisure, their minds and their bodies, their information, their recreation, their love and their religion. They hardly know which is which; they simply pursue their vision of excellence at whatever they do, leaving others to decide whether they are working or playing. –James A. Michener-
