Pope's Christmas message expresses hope for peace in the Holy Land
In his address delivered from the loggia of St. Peter's Square, the Pope stressed the need for peace in the Middle East and other conflict areas including North Africa and Southeast Asia. Below, the full text of Pope Benedict's Christmas message:
Dear Brothers and Sisters in Rome and throughout the world!
Christ is born for us! Glory to God in the highest and peace on earth to the men and women whom he loves. May all people hear an echo of the message of Bethlehem which the Catholic Church repeats in every continent, beyond the confines of every nation, language and culture. The Son of the Virgin Mary is born for everyone; he is the Saviour of all.
This is how Christ is invoked in an ancient liturgical antiphon: "O Emmanuel, our king and lawgiver, hope and salvation of the peoples: come to save us, O Lord our God". Veni ad salvandum nos! Come to save us! This is the cry raised by men and women in every age, who sense that by themselves they cannot prevail over difficulties and dangers. They need to put their hands in a greater and stronger hand, a hand which reaches out to them from on high. Dear brothers and sisters, this hand is Christ, born in Bethlehem of the Virgin Mary. He is the hand that God extends to humanity, to draw us out of the mire of sin and to set us firmly on rock, the secure rock of his Truth and his Love (cf. Ps 40:2).
This is the meaning of the Child’s name, the name which, by God’s will, Mary and Joseph gave him: he is named Jesus, which means "Saviour" (cf. Mt 1:21; Lk 1:31). He was sent by God the Father to save us above all from the evil deeply rooted in man and in history: the evil of separation from God, the prideful presumption of being self-sufficient, of trying to compete with God and to take his place, to decide what is good and evil, to be the master of life and death (cf. Gen 3:1-7). This is the great evil, the great sin, from which we human beings cannot save ourselves unless we rely on God’s help, unless we cry out to him: "Veni ad salvandum nos! – Come to save us!"
The very fact that we cry to heaven in this way already sets us aright; it makes us true to ourselves: we are in fact those who cried out to God and were saved (cf. Esth [LXX] 10:3ff.). God is the Saviour; we are those who are in peril. He is the physician; we are the infirm. To realize this is the first step towards salvation, towards emerging from the maze in which we have been locked by our pride. To lift our eyes to heaven, to stretch out our hands and call for help is our means of escape, provided that there is Someone who hears us and can come to our assistance.
Jesus Christ is the proof that God has heard our cry. And not only this! God’s love for us is so strong that he cannot remain aloof; he comes out of himself to enter into our midst and to share fully in our human condition (cf. Ex 3:7-12). The answer to our cry which God gave in Jesus infinitely transcends our expectations, achieving a solidarity which cannot be human alone, but divine. Only the God who is love, and the love which is God, could choose to save us in this way, which is certainly the lengthiest way, yet the way which respects the truth about him and about us: the way of reconciliation, dialogue and cooperation.
Dear brothers and sisters in Rome and throughout the world, on this Christmas 2011,
let us then turn to the Child of Bethlehem, to the Son of the Virgin Mary, and say: "Come to save us!" Let us repeat these words in spiritual union with the many people who experience particularly difficult situations; let us speak out for those who have no voice.
Together let us ask God’s help for the peoples of the Horn of Africa, who suffer from hunger and food shortages, aggravated at times by a persistent state of insecurity. May the international community not fail to offer assistance to the many displaced persons coming from that region and whose dignity has been sorely tried.
May the Lord grant comfort to the peoples of South-East Asia, particularly Thailand and the Philippines, who are still enduring grave hardships as a result of the recent floods.
May the Lord come to the aid of our world torn by so many conflicts which even today stain the earth with blood. May the Prince of Peace grant peace and stability to that Land where he chose to come into the world, and encourage the resumption of dialogue between Israelis and Palestinians. May he bring an end to the violence in Syria, where so much blood has already been shed. May he foster full reconciliation and stability in Iraq and Afghanistan. May he grant renewed vigour to all elements of society in the countries of North Africa and the Middle East as they strive to advance the common good.
May the birth of the Saviour support the prospects of dialogue and cooperation in Myanmar, in the pursuit of shared solutions. May the Nativity of the Redeemer ensure political stability to the countries of the Great Lakes Region of Africa, and assist the people of South Sudan in their commitment to safeguarding the rights of all citizens.
Dear Brothers and Sisters, let us turn our gaze anew to the grotto of Bethlehem.
The Child whom we contemplate is our salvation! He has brought to the world a universal message of reconciliation and peace. Let us open our hearts to him; let us receive him into our lives. Once more let us say to him, with joy and confidence: "Veni ad salvandum nos!"

From FEBC Philippines on the Recent Mindanao Typhoon
My Dear FEBC Family:
As you have all seen and heard, a number of provinces in northern Mindanao, along with Negros Oriental and Palawan, were badly damaged after massive flashfloods due to typhoon Sendong (international codename: WASHI) hit the areas last December 16. A local newspaper has placed the latest tally at 1,002 confirmed dead and scores missing. We enjoin all of you to pray for all the victims and their families as they face a dim Christmas. Pray as well for the rescue teams and efforts being done as we speak to help all those affected specially in the areas of Cagayan De Oro, Iligan, and even Dumaguete.
We do thank God, we don't have a radio station near the area of the flooding. Right now, we are working on a partnership with a Christan FM station operating in Cagayan de Oro, the New J, that airs some of our programs on their stations. We will be trying to raise the capability to do disaster-response radio with the New J and we are looking at the possibility of linking up with them as one of the contact points for our "Bayanihan Ngayong Kapaskuhan" (Helping One Another this Christmastime). This is an FEBC Philippines-wide on-air fundraising campaign that will run up to January 6, 2012. All funds raised and donations in-kind will go to organizations doing direct relief operations in Cagayan de Oro and Iligan City.
Again, please continue to be in prayer for God's comfort for the families who lost their loved ones and for the surviving victims as they try to go through the slow and painful process of rebuilding. Pray too for our on-air appeal, that people will respond compassionately and generously.

健康教會法則: 骨、筋、肌、皮與氣息
台北寇紹恩牧師從神領受到以西結書37章異象—— 秙骨變大軍。
神讓他看到建造教會五個法則,就在以西結書第37章1-10節的經文。
寇牧師具體分析五個健康教會法則:小組、愛、讀經、榜樣、聖靈。
第一步,寇牧師將教會小組化,就是基督之家改變開始。小組成了教會骨架。
第二,寇牧師講到「筋」「筋是最韌東西,能把肌肉和骨骼相連結,關鍵就是愛。他認為真正好的小組是散會後「私下是否還聯絡?是否還會想到對方需要?」若答案是肯定,那就是有「筋」的小組,有愛連接起來的小組。
第三,寇牧師繼續解釋「如果只有愛,卻沒真理,會秙乾。」基督之家鼓勵會友一年讀一遍聖經,備各種造就課程鍛練「肌肉」「大量讀神的話,才會長肉!」
第四,長了肉還要有皮,才能抵擋細菌侵擾。「皮是遮蓋,也是榜樣。當遮蓋的,要能承擔責任。」
最後,寇牧師指出神的氣息,就是聖靈。「神施恩的雙線,就是至聖的真道與聖靈。」「要勇於面對問題,解決問題,聖靈是神給教會的寶貝與恩典,每個教會都必需站在真理的根基上渴慕聖靈,才能活過來。」

第二,寇牧師講到「筋」「筋是最韌東西,能把肌肉和骨骼相連結,關鍵就是愛。他認為真正好的小組是散會後「私下是否還聯絡?是否還會想到對方需要?」若答案是肯定,那就是有「筋」的小組,有愛連接起來的小組。
第三,寇牧師繼續解釋「如果只有愛,卻沒真理,會秙乾。」基督之家鼓勵會友一年讀一遍聖經,備各種造就課程鍛練「肌肉」「大量讀神的話,才會長肉!」
第四,長了肉還要有皮,才能抵擋細菌侵擾。「皮是遮蓋,也是榜樣。當遮蓋的,要能承擔責任。」
最後,寇牧師指出神的氣息,就是聖靈。「神施恩的雙線,就是至聖的真道與聖靈。」「要勇於面對問題,解決問題,聖靈是神給教會的寶貝與恩典,每個教會都必需站在真理的根基上渴慕聖靈,才能活過來。」

Christmas is near. Let's reflect upon our busy lives all the time.
When can we stop for a while to think ?
The following piece is from LICC Helen Parry,have a read to nourish our own soul facing the Season.
Religion that is pure and undefiled before God and the Father is this: to visit orphans and widows in their affliction, and to keep oneself unstained from the world. James 1:27
To James the word 'religion' describes neither the Christian faith nor Christian, 'churchy', activities. He is talking here about what the Christian faith looks like, as seen in the lives of those who believe in Jesus (2:1).
What God, the Father, wants for his children is character, a quality of life that reflects his father-heart. This, James says, is to be seen in two areas - reaching out to those in need, and practical holiness. These two themes engage his attention throughout his letter (see 2:1-26 and 3:13-5:6).
'Visit' those in need, he says - a word that implies making a conscious decision, going out of one's way: it's costly of time, of physical and emotional energy. Whether they are people we know about personally, or people who turn for help to organisations that we are involved with, James says: reach out to vulnerable people - the homeless, the elderly, refugees, unemployed or excluded youth. And stand up for their rights.
That's one side of the coin. The other relates less to what we do than to who we are. Keeping oneself unstained by the world is not simply a matter of avoiding certain kinds of unwholesome behaviour. It springs from single-minded devotion to the Father. The 'double-minded' are seduced by the world's promises and misled by its values - the promises of wealth and success, the values of the marketplace.
But perhaps more relevantly to most of us, the 'world' creates busyness. We are so busy at work, at church, ferrying children, going to the gym; our minds are so busy that we are always thinking of plans, of dates, of things that 'need to be done'. So busy that we have neither time nor creative thought to devote to the needy people around us.
Let's try to clear the clutter, and live a life that is characterized by simplicity, contentment and generosity.
This is what speaks to the world.

Why do Americans celebrate Thanksgiving?

Lincoln’s original 1863 Thanksgiving Proclamation came spiritually speaking at a pivotal point in his life.
During the first week of July of that year, the Battle of Gettysburg occurred, resulting in the loss of some 60,000 American lives. Four months later in November, Lincoln delivered his famous“Gettsysburg Address.” It was while Lincoln was walking among the thousands of graves there at Gettysburg that he committed his life to Christ. As he explained to a friend:
"When I left Springfield [to assume the Presidency], I asked the people to pray for me. I was not a Christian. When I buried my son, the severest trial of my life, I was not a Christian. But when I went to Gettysburg and saw the graves of thousands of our soldiers, I then and there consecrated myself to Christ."
As Americans celebrate Thanksgiving each year, we hope they will retain the original gratefulness to God displayed by the Pilgrims and many other founding fathers, and remember that it is to those early and courageous Pilgrims that they owe not only the traditional Thanksgiving holiday but also the concepts of self-government, the “hard-work” ethic, self-reliant communities, and devout religious faith.

Foundational Principles of resolving conflicts
The Bible provides us with a simple yet powerful system for resolving conflict. These principles are so simple that they can be used to resolve the most basic conflicts of daily life. But they are so powerful that they have been used to mediate and arbitrate bitter divorce and child custody actions, embezzlement situations, church divisions, multi-million dollar business disputes, malpractice lawsuits, and terrible sexual abuse cases.
To gain a basic understanding of this system for biblical peacemaking, we invite you to study the foundational principles that are briefly discussed in the topics below.
1. Getting to the Heart of Conflict - Conflict starts in the heart. Therefore, if we fail to address the heart in a conflict, then any solution will fall short of true reconciliation.

一句恩言 - 屬靈書卷現在多有电子版, 若感受恩言, 可放其在电子記事版上, 隨時翻閱。
ニ位禱伴 - 原以為可借來找伴侶, 但你說是要同性, 對一些人冇難度, 對我則大有難度, 若非相識十多年, 或在同行工作, 且要撇除收費电話的問題, 可能找到禱伴。若要花這麼多氣力, 如我再花多一些來找伴侶。
週三学習 - 週三在澳工作, 所以這應不包括我。何妨其他教友現在很多工作或進修多在晚上, 若有20-30人參加已经俗, 想多是主婦及長者。
四本好書 - 這个不難, 當然吸收獲益程度因人而異。
五位對象 - 對我而言, 這只有靠轉堂時播聖詩來間接達成。 事關家人已信主, 在港親戚接近零。
週六行動 - 週六在港仍要做研究, 但仍可在下午與莫 Sir 及內地生遠足, 或參加以利亞团 (講笑, 亞团D姊妹一是保守, 一是受過苦, )。
七起親主 - 這个當然是主日敬拜神, 但我之後找人食飯最難, 好冇引。

《道德經》的智慧
亞洲知識管理協會會長廖湘琨博士談成功領袖的行為準則
他從《道德經》第十五章中提出
古之善為士者,微妙玄通,深不可識。
夫唯不可識,故強為之客:
豫兮,若冬涉川;
猶兮,若畏四鄰;
儼兮,其若客;
渙兮,若冰之將釋;
敦兮,其若樸;
曠兮,其若谷;
渾兮,其若濁。
熟能濁以止,靜之徐清?
熟能安以見,動之徐生?
保此道者不欲盈,夫唯不盈,故能敝而新成。
在複雜的世界中,其實存在看一些簡單的規律。
老子用七種行為準則來描述一個成功的領袖:
一、 凡事謹慎 「豫兮,若涉大川。」
二、 深思熟慮 「猶兮,若畏四鄰
三、 恭敬莊重 「儼兮,其若客」
四、 溫和融洽 「渙兮,若冰之將釋」
五、 溫和自如 「渙兮,若冰之將釋」
六、 淳厚樸實 「敦兮,其若樸」
七、 豁達開朗 「曠兮,其若谷」
八、 渾厚深沉 「渾兮,其若濁」
老子特別提出兩個基本規律,作為領袖的思考方法:
1.「濁之以止,靜之徐清」 在混濁亂中平靜下來,使身心清靜如水;
2.「安之以久,動之徐生」 在要定祥和中長久守持,使心平氣和徐徐而生。
能夠按照這二條規律做事的領袖,就可以保持謙虛而不自滿,會不驕不躁,心明如鏡,到時機成熟時,再有條不紊地行動,能夠保持謙虛而不自滿,領袖才有很大上升空間,使自己能夠不斷更新發展。

在複雜的世界中,其實存在看一些簡單的規律。
老子用七種行為準則來描述一個成功的領袖:
一、 凡事謹慎 「豫兮,若涉大川。」
二、 深思熟慮 「猶兮,若畏四鄰
三、 恭敬莊重 「儼兮,其若客」
四、 溫和融洽 「渙兮,若冰之將釋」
五、 溫和自如 「渙兮,若冰之將釋」
六、 淳厚樸實 「敦兮,其若樸」
七、 豁達開朗 「曠兮,其若谷」
八、 渾厚深沉 「渾兮,其若濁」
老子特別提出兩個基本規律,作為領袖的思考方法:
1.「濁之以止,靜之徐清」 在混濁亂中平靜下來,使身心清靜如水;
2.「安之以久,動之徐生」 在要定祥和中長久守持,使心平氣和徐徐而生。
能夠按照這二條規律做事的領袖,就可以保持謙虛而不自滿,會不驕不躁,心明如鏡,到時機成熟時,再有條不紊地行動,能夠保持謙虛而不自滿,領袖才有很大上升空間,使自己能夠不斷更新發展。
所以,老子說:「保此道者,不欲盈。夫唯不盈,故能蔽而新成。」

How Much Americans Spend on Halloween
The National Retail Federation estimates that Americans will spend the following for Halloween in 2011:
Total Halloween expenses—$6.9 billion
(that's more than twice the amount Americans spent for Halloween in 2005)
Largest Halloween expense—$2.5 billion for costumes
Amount spent on candy—$2 billion
The research also shows that Halloween isn't just for kids anymore. In 2011 nearly 70 percent of adults plan to hold their own celebrations for Halloween.

Why we must preach on justice
We tend to avoid preaching about justice because we don't really want to know the truth about what sin has done to our world and to us. Because that would make us uncomfortable.
Why preaching about justice is hard
Our society has become so politicized that people often hear words like justice or life or the poor or compassion as code words for a partisan political allegiance in one direction or another.
Self-righteous moralism.
Generational issues
Character development.
Ideological correctness replaces failure to do the exegetical and theological work
Justice is not partisan politics
Words like justice or poverty or sexuality or life or righteous are really code Words for a partisan political position
A call to action Is not Asking a favor
Make justice concrete

內地流傳一個黑色笑話,某農夫重金採購了優質種子,期望辛勤耕種後可獲豐收,後來竟只長出雜草,因為種子是假的;他傷心之餘買了農藥自殺,卻死不去,因為農藥是假的;農夫撿回一命便買酒闔家慶祝,結果卻全家斃命,因為酒也是假的。
八十年前英國發生「鄧蓮嬌案」(Donoghuev Stevenson)[1932],阿嬌的朋友送來一瓶薑啤,大家暢飲之時,竟從樽裏倒出半隻腐爛蝸牛,阿嬌震驚不安,更因腸胃不適入院,無妄之災令她氣憤難平,便控告製造商有疏忽之嫌。上訴庭在此案確立了「鄰舍原則」(Neighbor Principle)的重要,法官指每個人要愛他的近鄰,應該小心地去避免或預防自己的一些行為或錯漏引致近鄰受到傷害。「鄰舍原則」現已演繹成為保障消費者權益的法律原則之一
本月初香港發生了「硫酸利賓納案」,A君飲了一口利賓納後,嘴唇和舌頭即被飲品內不應含有的硫酸灼傷了。簡單地分析此事件,製造商對消費者應該要負上「小心照顧鄰舍」的責任。但如有證據顯示飲品曾被第三者「做了手腳」,則製造商對消費者所負的責任便可推卸。
「鄰舍原則」如能被內地的法律採用,類似「三聚氰胺奶粉」案件的受害者便可根據此法以追究對「結石寶寶事件」的損害,向罔顧人命的生產商討回公道,亦可作為見錢開眼的製造商的良心守則。

「三枝蠟燭故事」

Pastor in the Present Tense
Your place and essential identity. Interview with Eugene Peterson
Is calling a one-time thing, or something that evolves over a lifetime?
For me it evolved.
As pastor, what is your essential role?
to show how the Bible got lived.
to embody the gospel
For a pastor who's trying to live the gospel and see that it's lived among the congregation, where does your authority come from?
The authority of the pastor comes from immersion in a community, from giving witness to the fact that this is livable stuff.
Someone once observed that the pastor does not serve the sheep; the pastor serves God by guiding the sheep. Would you agree?
We do this in community not through a line-of-command approach. The way we understand our authority, and the words we use to convey it, have to be thoughtful and accurate.
Since you entered the pastorate, how have perceptions of pastoral authority changed?
People are not problems to be solved. They are mysteries to be explored. I'm not saying there are no problems to be solved. But we don't merely fix things. We're not therapists. The way the pastor goes about things has to do much more with relationship, with forgiveness, with grace, with healing, with understanding, with redemption, with patience. These are the virtues that we should be cultivating.
Should pastors have goals for their people? Like wanting them to know Christ, to come to a living faith, to grow in and share that faith?
To run a marathon well, you have to stop thinking about the goal. You try to understand your body, the weather, the training. This business of being a Christian is a marathon. It's "a long obedience." I tell pastors, "Be patient. You're in too much of a hurry."
What is the role that only the Holy Spirit can accomplish? And what is the role that God asks pastors to play in that process?
The Holy Spirit is the center of it all in terms of communicating, bringing energy, a sense of repentance, of love. As a pastor I want to be there, to be able to assist, to speak at the right time, and pray the right prayers. But I don't think we do much. What we do is sometimes clarify, sometimes rebuke. I'm not against rebuking, telling people they're doing something wrong, and giving them directions on how to do it right. But I think we're co-receivers. We're doing this together.

Philosopher Nicholas Beale and scientist John Polkinghorne use the following story to illustrate the nature of biblical faith:
A philosopher, a scientist, and a simple man—none of whom could swim — were trapped in a cove with sheer cliff faces. They split up, but the tide kept coming in. Rescuers lowered a rope with a safety harness.
The philosopher said, "Ah, this looks like a rope, but I might be mistaken—it could be wishful thinking or an illusion." So he didn't attach himself, and he was drowned.
The scientist said, "Ah, this is an 11 mm polyester rope with a breaking strain of 2800 kg. It conforms to the MR 10-81 standard," and then proceeded to give an exhaustive, and entirely correct, analysis of the rope's physical and chemical properties. But he didn't attach himself, and he was drowned.
The simple man said, "Ah, I'm not sure if it's a rope or a python tail, but it's my only chance, so I'm grabbing it and holding on with my whole life." He was saved.
Of course other things being equal, it is better to have an enlightened faith in God than an unenlightened faith. But mere intellectual understanding that does not lead to trust and action is not what God is after.

Where Would We Be Without Jesus ?
Without Jesus’ words we would be witnesses with nothing to say; without Jesus’ authority we would be ambassadors with nothing to do; without Jesus’ love we would be servants with nothing to give.

Proper view on suffering
Ajith Fernando, a Christian leader from Sri Lanka who ministers to the urban poor, writes:
The church in each culture has its own special challenges—theological blind spots that hinder Christians from growing to full maturity in Christ …. I think one of the most serious theological blind spots in the western church is a defective understanding of suffering. There seems to be a lot of reflection on how to avoid suffering and on what to do when we hurt. We have a lot of teaching about escape from suffering and therapy for suffering, but there is inadequate teaching about the theology of suffering ….
The "good life," comfort, convenience, and a painless life have become necessities that people view as basic rights. If they do not have these, they think something has gone wrong …. One of the results of this attitude is a severe restriction of spiritual growth, for God intends us to grow through trials.

人生教我的45個功課

曹興誠在台北演講時,有學生問他關於生涯規劃。他答說一生從不生涯規劃 ,只做好眼前一、兩年內的事
十歲的我,面對天真的隔壁小女孩,她說:「大哥哥,長大後我要嫁給你,我會對你好,以後你就會知道。」
二十歲的我,面臨聯考的挫折,只聽見父親說:「大頭,不努力考上好學校,將來怎麼找到好工作,現在貪玩,以後你就會知道。」
三十歲的我,第一次相親,媒人告訴我:「小嬋是個好女孩,聰明、孝順,會煮一手好吃的飯菜,娶了有幫夫運的她啊,會好運一輩子,以後你就會知道。」
四十歲的我,收到滿是紅色的體檢報告,醫師告訴我:「大頭先生,你應該少應酬,少抽煙喝酒,少吃肉類和生猛海鮮,多運動,作息要正常。你要再不好好保
重自己的身體,以後你就會知道。」
五十歲的我,喝了自己兒子的喜酒,鄰座的阿尚告訴
我:「親家!呷你恭喜呵!娶一個水媳婦,啊嗯哥(可是)欠腳的媳婦派管(能幹的媳婦難管),以後你丟摘啊啦(以後你就會知道)。」
六十歲的我,參加了同學的葬禮。看到浮雲蒼狗,它
彷彿告訴我:「......以後你就會知道.......。」
現在的我,只擁有一本相本夾著幾張泛黃的照片;幾張忘記要寄出、也不記得要寄給誰的情書;幾件參加過無數喜喪的西裝;一紙成績單包著數十年努力後的退休金;還有一直陪在自己身邊的老伴。我告訴我自己:「其實,你很富有;所以,把握當下,珍惜一切,努力為人群去付出,至於以後,你根本不須知道。」忙的時候,想要休息;渡假的時候,想到未來。窮的時候,渴望富有;生活安逸了,怕幸福不能長久。
該決定的時候,擔心結果不如預期;看明白了,後悔當初沒有下定決心。不屬於自己的,常常心存慾望;握在手裡了,又懷念未擁有前的輕鬆。「生命若不是現在,那是何時?」「能隨心所欲的去過生活,這才是人生!」路已盡頭,該轉彎了
今天在報紙上看到一篇女生寫的文章,讓我感觸很深,她因為初戀的失敗,一直離不開失戀的痛苦而有輕生的念頭,在她想自殺的那一剎那,她看到了公車上有的一小段詩,詩的內容就有這麼一句:『不是路已走到盡頭,而是該轉彎了!』而讓她拋棄了輕生的念頭。最後她寫說:大二的我,被一個不速之客擾亂了平靜的生活卻也不經意的被另一個不速之客救贖了。生命中總有挫折,那不是盡頭,只是在提醒你,該轉彎了。
『不是路已走到盡頭,而是該轉彎了!』 這句話其實很有意思!當你遇到一件事,已無法解決,甚至是已經影響到你的生活、心情時,何不停下腳步,暫時的想一想是否有轉闤的空間,或許換種方法,換條路走事情便會簡單點。但通常在那一刻,我們並來不及想到這些,是一昧的在原地踏步、繞圈,讓自己一直的陷在痛苦的深淵中,生命中總有挫折,那不是盡頭,只是在提醒你:該轉彎了!放手不代表承認失敗,放手只是為自己再找條更美好的路走!

蕭建華的故事
我!蕭建華,出生在雲林縣林內鄉,在家排行第十一,可想而知父母親的生活壓力非常的大,於是 3 歲就被送到台北的孤兒院,國小開始讀書的時候才知道有種人叫爸爸、有種人叫媽媽,有個地方叫做「家」。
也因為在孤兒院活,在學校常常被同學笑是沒人要的野孩子。一直到國小5年級被南投縣的一位老兵領養,而我的養母是原住民布農族,於是我有了一個真正的家。
但國中2年級那一年養父病逝,我們才相處了短短的4年,一下子就必須面對生計的問題,雖然我成績優秀,卻是當時三百個畢業生裡面唯一一個沒有參加升學考試的學生,因為養母跟我說:「家裡沒有人賺錢,媽媽的身體不好,如果你去讀書,那這個家怎麼辦」。
於是我決定一肩扛起養家的責任,把跟叔叔伯伯借來的報名費還給人家,放棄升學開始半工半讀的生活。
國中畢業之後沒能再升學,國中畢業的學歷也難以找到好的工作,於是我早上清晨3點騎著腳踏車,開始挨家挨戶送報紙,7點多再換個裝到西餐廳吧檯當學徒,17歲再到台中汽車修護廠學做黑手,也存了一筆錢讓媽媽在我當兵時可以使用。
入伍之後在陸軍特種部隊服役練就了一身強壯的體格,退伍後經長官介紹來到台南市擔任駕駛工作,各位叫得出名字的各種高級豪華房車我都開過,但幾個月後我一直想:
我的未來要這樣過嗎?我的未來要在別人的指揮中過日子嗎? 於是我辭掉這份薪水優渥的工作到處遞履歷,但國中畢業幾乎沒有人要請我上班。
26歲那一年養母過世,長達8年的苦熬終告結束,我終於可以走我自己的路、開始走自己的人生。
白天我在揮汗如雨地在建築工地打雜,晚上帶著滿身汗臭地換上制服到學校念書,別人潑我冷水嘲笑我幹嗎那麼辛苦時,只有我知道我要的是什麼。
我先就讀了台南一中補校,後來再報考嘉南藥理學院,讀了一年又考取了成功大學中文系夜間部,直到36歲終於完成了大學的學業並以第一名的成績畢業。
我付出比別人更多的努力才終於完成大學學業,求學的日子裡我開過捐血車、也送貨;從28歲念到36歲,整整8年沒有中斷過半工半讀。
這8年是我人生中最精華的歲月,我這麼努力我相信老天爺一定會讓我更好,不給我好那實在太沒天理啦!
這麼辛苦的撐過來,以為美好的人生正要開始,正要一步一步實現我的人生規劃時,但沒想到才剛畢業不到一年,就開始感覺右手的小指頭沒有力氣,
一開始不以為意便找了間中醫針灸、電療,但是情況並沒有比較好,於是去大醫院做檢查,做了簡單的神經傳導檢查,醫生說是神經傳導有問題,吃了三個月的藥,情況並沒有好轉。
經過數月的蒙古醫生治療,醫生診斷出我是因為頸椎壓迫到神經必須開刀,不然很快手腳很快就會癱瘓。
這種情況下沒有選擇的餘地,於是讓一位香港來的名師在92年動了頸椎減壓手術,七節的頸椎中的2~6節被截去一半,共損失了五節。
然而病情卻沒有好轉,而且肌力隨著我的復健卻一直流失,也讓我愈復健愈痛不欲生,狀況一直惡化,醫生卻在此時告訴我可能不是頸椎的問題,因為醫生的誤診,讓我白白挨了這一刀。
後來在成大和台大榮總兩間醫院醫生聯合會診之下,診斷出我罹患了一種在國外發生率只有十萬分之六,在台灣一年出現不到十個病例,目前尚無積極治療方式的「慢性多發性脫髓鞘神經病變」,這種病類似「漸凍人」。
我的身體功能會逐漸萎縮,自體免疫系統會破壞神經,慢慢影響到我的視神經、影響到我吞嚥的功能,最後連大家最平常的呼吸我會要很困難才能進一口氣。
醫生告訴我說,存活的時間大概三到五年。從92年3月發病到今天,我跟死神拔河了六年!
六年了!2000多個日子裡,每一天我都得花比別人十倍甚至一百倍的力氣在努力的活著。
很多生活上的辛苦你很難想像,每天起床你會想先用哪一隻腳先下床嗎?刷牙時你會考慮如何擠出牙膏、如何刷牙嗎?
每天我必須要用滾的滾下床,再用架子把自己慢慢吊起來;我必須先擠出牙膏在嘴裡,再用右手慢慢刷。
一開始的時候我也會抱怨,我當時心裡想的,都是自己失去、沒有的一切,身心俱疲,整個人跌到了谷底。
小時候沒有家、沒有父母、沒有正常的家庭可以順利的完成學業,因為沒有很好的學歷,找不到好的工作,我都沒有怨言。
我靠自己的努力付出最精華的八年歲月,重新站在嶄新的起跑點上,老天爺卻跟我開了這樣的玩笑!
老師們不是都跟我說以後會苦盡甘來嗎?我身體不會更好了,我想算了!就讓我結束自己的生命吧!
我買了一包木炭準備自我了斷,卻在此時我無意識地走進我的書房,我看到滿滿的書籍、講義、獎狀,我陷入了長思。
回想我成長的每一天都過得很辛苦,難道我因為生了這場病什麼都沒有了嗎?
不!我回頭想想我還擁有什麼,雖然我連家人沒有了,但是生病之後學校的老師、同學、學弟妹溫暖的手一雙一雙伸了出來,讓我不再去想自己失去的有多少,而是努力去想自己擁有的,竟然是這麼的豐富與寶貴。
「生命無常,我不知生命的終點和明天哪一個會先到,但面對枯萎,我能做的就是勇敢。」
92年12月當電視報章媒體披露我的故事之後,開始很多機關團體打電話來邀約我分享生命故事, 「如果其中有一個人因為我的處境與想法,而改變了負面的觀念,那就是我生命殘存價值的發光」 我給自己訂下一個目標,我要講100場,講完之後我就是100分了,我可以功德圓滿離開人世間了。
當我講完第一百場演講時,才經過一個月就發生了一場讓我悲痛不已的火災,因為電線走火,燒掉我的房子。
我記得好清楚,那一天我拼命的哭,從有眼淚哭到沒眼淚,從有聲音一直哀嚎到沒聲音。
你以為我哭是因為燒掉的房子嗎?是捨不得財物的損失嗎?
不!我哭是因為在那場猛烈的火災中,有一位從我罹病開始,即自告奮勇、自願協助照顧我生活起居的學妹,因走避不及,吸入過多濃煙,緊急送往醫院搶救了一個半小時之後,仍然宣告不治,一條無辜的生命因我而喪生,那才叫我感到萬分的悲痛與自責。
陪著她在急診室的那九十分鐘,就像一整個世紀那麼漫長,每一分每一秒都攸關存亡。看著醫護人員盡職的進行該有的急救步驟,我卻束手無策。
「老天爺,你不要帶她走!你不要帶她走…」,我希望她能聽見我的聲音,知道有人殷切的期盼她甦醒過來。 「不要帶走她,不要帶走她…」這一句話在我心裡不知翻滾了千次、萬次,但就在一個半小時後,我親眼看到醫生將白色的床單,蓋過學妹清秀的臉龐,我知道任憑我卑躬屈膝、聲嘶力竭,不斷苦苦的哀求,老天爺已然是視而不見、聽而不聞。
學妹還是走了!一條無辜、善良的生命因我而犧牲,那種伯仁因我而死的自責、悲痛,在那一刻,我全然崩潰了。
這個世界亂了,沒了秩序、善惡不分;沒了天理、賞罰不明。為什麼?為什麼是這樣?
房子燒了沒關係,我還能投靠朋友;東西燒了沒關係,反正以後我也帶不走。但是千不該、萬不該,就是不該帶學妹離開。
以為講完了一百場,對自己、對所有愛我的人,就算有了個交代;以為講完了一百場,老天爺就會放我一馬,讓我安詳的走到終點站。
我被社會局緊急安置在一家小旅館裡,蜷縮在被窩裡不停的顫抖、啜泣,我不想再跨出房門一步,不想再看見窗外的藍天,因為經歷這一場惡火之後,我已經不知道該用什麼樣的心情去面對我教大家要感恩的「天」。
我不懂!不懂老天爺為何執意將我推向悲苦、去承受更多的痛苦與折磨?還不夠嗎?我都已經這樣慘了,還不夠嗎?
拉上窗簾、關上房門,把自己囚禁在這個小房間,管它外面是白天或黑夜,任憑再多的淒風苦雨、愁雲慘霧,我都無所謂了。
火災後的第三天,慈濟的師姐送來幾套乾淨的衣服,讓我換掉被濃煙燻黑的舊衣,然後告訴我:「唉,誰希望自己的家遭逢火災?誰希望親人在眼前與自己天人永隔?誰都不想遇到這樣不幸的事…」
師姐嘆聲氣接著說:「但,不幸如果真的發生了,就算你哭啞了嗓、學妹也不會再從奈何橋那邊回來了,不幸的事實能改變嗎?如果你認為學妹是因你而犧牲的,那你更應該為學妹振作起來,而不是糟蹋自己的生命,學妹的這一條命,值不值得你為她繼續再講一百場?讓學妹的精神將因你的奮起而浴火重生。
今天!第六個100場就在今天!以前大家都說不可能!但它紮紮實實就發生在今天。
「一定有人曾經跟你說,你很幸福,但是這句話在你心裡有多大的感覺?你看,別人的房子那麼大,別人的車子那麼拉風,別人穿的都是名牌,別人怎那麼英俊,別人怎麼那麼漂亮,開口閉口都是別人的,但你可曾用心看看你自己呢?
我為什麼不肯承認我一無所有,我幹嘛用壞心情來面對別人,雖然你們有很多是我沒有的,但我有很多是你們沒有的耶!你們走路了不起兩隻腳,我加上拐杖我有四條腿你們有沒有!這個邁阿密頸圈你們有沒有,你們也沒有,我有耶!我家裡有一台可以幫助我站起來的電動輪椅,你們有沒有,我有耶!我用心看我所擁有的這些東西。你可以去問兩眼全盲的人幸福是甚麼?他會告訴他想擁有跟妳一樣看的見的雙眼,能看見這繽紛的世界。
各位!在擁有的時就應該要去珍惜啊!每天在城市的角落裡,有人無聲無息就走了,老天爺對你真好,因為祂帶走的不是你!你身邊所擁有的一切你都應該去珍惜、去感恩啊!
在你很小的時候你的父母親會叫你自己換尿布、泡牛奶嗎?為何你現在用忙當藉口,一個月花沒幾分鐘跟他們通電話?這十幾二十年來你是如何長大的!你還記的嗎?
你可曾仔細見到他們一天天的衰老、日子越過越少,你要等到他們進棺材了才要去墳前痛哭緬懷他們嗎?
親情、友情、愛情、課業的難關,都是可以克服的,年輕的生命,不要鑽牛角尖來讓自己煩心,應該珍惜生命、更該去惜福、感恩當下。
我希望能夠用自己的故事讓更多的人受到感動,藉由我的故事讓大家願意重新思考:人存在的價值,人對於生命的態度,很多人說我是生命的鬥士,其實我很不敢當,我和許多平凡人一樣,都只是在過日子罷了。只是我相信我對生命的意義以及對生活的態度比較積極而已,面對挫折,我們常常會做出一個很容易的決定…放棄!放棄,是因為你不相信自己,你不相信自己可以克服。
我,比起各位來說,應該是最有資格放棄的人,但是我沒有,因為我相信我一定可以!放棄只會讓自己一無所有,唯有相信自己堅持到底,你才會是那一個收穫最多的人。
老天爺在我們的左手放著『懦弱』,同時也在右手放著『勇敢』。
很多人選擇懦弱而向下沉淪,但我選擇勇敢過了六年了,今天的我連一個保特瓶蓋都打不開了。
當你的人生路上遇到多大的困難、考驗、挫折、打擊,希望你回想今天聽到的演講、看到這個身軀殘障的人,他堅持不向命運低頭,而你的煩惱能有多大呢?
這些是我走過的路,是我看過的風景,也許你們都無法想像,也許能夠感動你們!
人活著的價值應該在你能圓滿多少生命;有多少生命,因你而圓滿。像我這樣殘疾的人都能那麼勇敢的活著,而四肢健全的你們為何會不快樂?
如果今晚你們其中有一個人因為我的處境與想法,而改變了負面的觀念,那就是我生命殘存價值的發光!
也因為在孤兒院活,在學校常常被同學笑是沒人要的野孩子。一直到國小5年級被南投縣的一位老兵領養,而我的養母是原住民布農族,於是我有了一個真正的家。
但國中2年級那一年養父病逝,我們才相處了短短的4年,一下子就必須面對生計的問題,雖然我成績優秀,卻是當時三百個畢業生裡面唯一一個沒有參加升學考試的學生,因為養母跟我說:「家裡沒有人賺錢,媽媽的身體不好,如果你去讀書,那這個家怎麼辦」。
於是我決定一肩扛起養家的責任,把跟叔叔伯伯借來的報名費還給人家,放棄升學開始半工半讀的生活。
國中畢業之後沒能再升學,國中畢業的學歷也難以找到好的工作,於是我早上清晨3點騎著腳踏車,開始挨家挨戶送報紙,7點多再換個裝到西餐廳吧檯當學徒,17歲再到台中汽車修護廠學做黑手,也存了一筆錢讓媽媽在我當兵時可以使用。
入伍之後在陸軍特種部隊服役練就了一身強壯的體格,退伍後經長官介紹來到台南市擔任駕駛工作,各位叫得出名字的各種高級豪華房車我都開過,但幾個月後我一直想:
我的未來要這樣過嗎?我的未來要在別人的指揮中過日子嗎? 於是我辭掉這份薪水優渥的工作到處遞履歷,但國中畢業幾乎沒有人要請我上班。
26歲那一年養母過世,長達8年的苦熬終告結束,我終於可以走我自己的路、開始走自己的人生。
白天我在揮汗如雨地在建築工地打雜,晚上帶著滿身汗臭地換上制服到學校念書,別人潑我冷水嘲笑我幹嗎那麼辛苦時,只有我知道我要的是什麼。
我先就讀了台南一中補校,後來再報考嘉南藥理學院,讀了一年又考取了成功大學中文系夜間部,直到36歲終於完成了大學的學業並以第一名的成績畢業。
我付出比別人更多的努力才終於完成大學學業,求學的日子裡我開過捐血車、也送貨;從28歲念到36歲,整整8年沒有中斷過半工半讀。
這8年是我人生中最精華的歲月,我這麼努力我相信老天爺一定會讓我更好,不給我好那實在太沒天理啦!
這麼辛苦的撐過來,以為美好的人生正要開始,正要一步一步實現我的人生規劃時,但沒想到才剛畢業不到一年,就開始感覺右手的小指頭沒有力氣,
一開始不以為意便找了間中醫針灸、電療,但是情況並沒有比較好,於是去大醫院做檢查,做了簡單的神經傳導檢查,醫生說是神經傳導有問題,吃了三個月的藥,情況並沒有好轉。
經過數月的蒙古醫生治療,醫生診斷出我是因為頸椎壓迫到神經必須開刀,不然很快手腳很快就會癱瘓。
這種情況下沒有選擇的餘地,於是讓一位香港來的名師在92年動了頸椎減壓手術,七節的頸椎中的2~6節被截去一半,共損失了五節。
然而病情卻沒有好轉,而且肌力隨著我的復健卻一直流失,也讓我愈復健愈痛不欲生,狀況一直惡化,醫生卻在此時告訴我可能不是頸椎的問題,因為醫生的誤診,讓我白白挨了這一刀。
後來在成大和台大榮總兩間醫院醫生聯合會診之下,診斷出我罹患了一種在國外發生率只有十萬分之六,在台灣一年出現不到十個病例,目前尚無積極治療方式的「慢性多發性脫髓鞘神經病變」,這種病類似「漸凍人」。
我的身體功能會逐漸萎縮,自體免疫系統會破壞神經,慢慢影響到我的視神經、影響到我吞嚥的功能,最後連大家最平常的呼吸我會要很困難才能進一口氣。
醫生告訴我說,存活的時間大概三到五年。從92年3月發病到今天,我跟死神拔河了六年!
六年了!2000多個日子裡,每一天我都得花比別人十倍甚至一百倍的力氣在努力的活著。
很多生活上的辛苦你很難想像,每天起床你會想先用哪一隻腳先下床嗎?刷牙時你會考慮如何擠出牙膏、如何刷牙嗎?
每天我必須要用滾的滾下床,再用架子把自己慢慢吊起來;我必須先擠出牙膏在嘴裡,再用右手慢慢刷。
一開始的時候我也會抱怨,我當時心裡想的,都是自己失去、沒有的一切,身心俱疲,整個人跌到了谷底。
小時候沒有家、沒有父母、沒有正常的家庭可以順利的完成學業,因為沒有很好的學歷,找不到好的工作,我都沒有怨言。

創意是創新突破 :五項涵意
一、改 變 (Change): 廢棄一成不變或制式僵化的習慣,是創造新意的起點。
二、不一樣 (Different):追求另類思考,和一般經驗或習慣有所不同。
三、鮮 活 (Live):生動活潑,揚棄死氣沉沉。
四、多元及彈性 (Variety and Flexible):多元、彈性的思考習慣可不受任何的情境拘限。
五、更 好(Better):追求好還要更好。

老人最忌諱的動作
隨著年齡增加,骨骼變“鬆”、關節變“硬” 、肌肉變“少、心腦血管變“脆”,一些生活中不經意的小動作可能會變成老人的安全陷阱。下面是老年病學、康復及運動方面的專家,總結出的10個老人最忌諱的動作。
1、要避免用力排便
老人用力排便時,會導致腹內壓、血壓升高,增加腦出血的風險,此時心臟的負擔也會加大,容易誘發心梗。如果有便秘症狀,應多吃富含纖維的果蔬,養成按時排便的習慣,或借助藥物排便,切忌過度用力。
2、看報打牌不宜久坐
久坐不動會影響到消化功能,使胃腸蠕動緩慢,還容易誘發消化不良、便秘甚至痔瘡等病症。有些老人習慣在室外打牌、下棋,當室外氣溫較低再加上久坐不起,易導致下肢血液迴流不良,誘發或加重膝關節的退化性病變。因此,老人打牌、看書報、看電視,應每隔四五十分鐘就要站起來走動一會,活動一下膝關節和腰腹部。
3、起床太猛傷血管
老人起床動作過猛可能造成血壓升高,發生暫時性暈厥甚至腦出血。專家建議,老人醒後可先靜臥3分鐘,慢起身在床上坐3分鐘,放下雙腳在床邊坐3分鐘,然後再下床慢慢活動。
4、狼吞虎嚥傷心傷胃
老人的消化功能和吞咽功能不如年輕人,吃飯過快一來不利消化,還容易噎著,對食管造成損傷。二是容易給心臟帶來過大負擔。
5、血壓跟著嗓門升
老人說話聲音每提高一次,就是對身體的一次刺激,此時會伴隨著心跳加快、血壓升高。如果是在和他人發生爭執、情緒激動的場合,血壓波動就會更大。專家建議,老人平時儘量輕聲細語地說話,少與人爭執。
6、站著穿褲最易摔倒
老人平衡能力差,站著穿褲很容易發生意外,造成骨折。所以,老人穿褲時最好坐在床上或倚靠在固定處。
7、上樓梯寧慢勿快

Revive !
Revive means that
God brings to life the things that seem to have died.
He quickens what is on its last breath and
He strengthens what is on its last legs.
In our brokenness He makes us whole.
He takes the barren places in our lives and brings a new harvest,
He takes the dry places in our hearts and turns them into flowing rivers,
He takes the empty places in our souls and fills them to the full.
For thus saith the high and lofty One that inhabiteth eternity, whose name is Holy; I dwell in the high and holy place, with him also that is of a contrite and humble spirit, to revive the spirit of the humble, and to revive the heart of the contrite ones. Isaiah 57:15
Revive me according to Your lovingkindness. Psalm 119:88

John Stott: 1921-2011 A Godly Man indeed
"John founded LICC with characteristic discernment and determination. 'Warmth' and 'friendship' marked John's ministry throughout." Mark Greene
John Stott died yesterday, peacefully in St Barnabas, the care home where he's spent the last few years. Here was a godly man indeed.
And a friend to hundreds of thousands of people - through gracious word spoken eye to eye, through gracious word spoken from platforms, and through gracious word written in many books. But, in whatever context, John's words were clean with a joyous clarity, crafted in prayer, and offered back to the Spirit who shaped them for His purposes - for the honour of Jesus' name and the glory of the Father.
When John spoke, there was never any doubt whose messenger he was.In even trying to encapsulate John's achievements and his character, it's hard to know with which to begin. His extraordinary undertakings in biblical scholarship, in thought leadership, in growing a local church, in building up evangelicals in the Church of England, in reshaping international mission to include social action, in creating an international movement of evangelicals - all this make his graciousness, meekness and humility seem all the more remarkable. Similarly, his graciousness makes his achievements seem all the more extraordinary - how, from a human point of view, did such a gentle, kind man manage to help gather so many to fresh missional purpose and radical cooperation? Jesus, would be his answer, I'm sure.
John was one of the founders of LICC, our first Director and our President until yesterday. He saw the urgent need to enable Christians to integrate their faith with their whole life - at work as well as in the neighbourhood, in the lecture theatre as well as in the sanctuary. And he led and shaped LICC to develop and offer wisdom to Christians from all over the world and from all kinds of professional and ecclesiastical contexts. But this is also a time of grief for us, and for many, many people.
May the God of all comfort, grant you his comfort at this time.
John Stott died yesterday, peacefully in St Barnabas, the care home where he's spent the last few years. Here was a godly man indeed.
And a friend to hundreds of thousands of people - through gracious word spoken eye to eye, through gracious word spoken from platforms, and through gracious word written in many books. But, in whatever context, John's words were clean with a joyous clarity, crafted in prayer, and offered back to the Spirit who shaped them for His purposes - for the honour of Jesus' name and the glory of the Father.
When John spoke, there was never any doubt whose messenger he was.In even trying to encapsulate John's achievements and his character, it's hard to know with which to begin. His extraordinary undertakings in biblical scholarship, in thought leadership, in growing a local church, in building up evangelicals in the Church of England, in reshaping international mission to include social action, in creating an international movement of evangelicals - all this make his graciousness, meekness and humility seem all the more remarkable. Similarly, his graciousness makes his achievements seem all the more extraordinary - how, from a human point of view, did such a gentle, kind man manage to help gather so many to fresh missional purpose and radical cooperation? Jesus, would be his answer, I'm sure.
John was one of the founders of LICC, our first Director and our President until yesterday. He saw the urgent need to enable Christians to integrate their faith with their whole life - at work as well as in the neighbourhood, in the lecture theatre as well as in the sanctuary. And he led and shaped LICC to develop and offer wisdom to Christians from all over the world and from all kinds of professional and ecclesiastical contexts. Treasure
You may not have a lot of money,but you have incredible wealth.

Who is against you?
God is not.

Double-minded
Double-minded, duplicitous, two-faced - the list could go on.
All imply untrustworthiness. And the opposite -
single-minded, simple, single-eyed (see Matt.6:22, AV)
- imply sincerity, honesty, transparency, virtues that Christians are bound to aspire to.
Ask in faith, never doubting, for the one who doubts is like a wave of the sea, driven and tossed by the wind; for the doubter, being double-minded and unstable in every way, must not expect to receive anything from the Lord. James 1:6-8

讓人受用終生的聖經金句
1.你們願意人怎樣待你們,你們也要怎樣待人。
這是一條非常實用的人際關係原則,可以在人群中形成良性循環關係鏈。好多人的失敗都是因為只盯住別人的過失,卻看不到自己曾經給他人帶來的傷害。孔子曰:己所不欲,勿施於人。而耶穌的這句話顯然又高了一個層次。
2.施比受更為有福。
送人玫瑰,手留餘香。這是不肯施捨的人永遠也無法體驗得到的幸福。
3.萬事都互相效力,叫愛上帝的人得益處。
明白這一道理的人再不會對生活充滿怨言,因為終級目標已定,就是要你得益處,還有什麼過不去的坎兒?但前提是,一定要對造物主心存敬畏。
4.不要為明天憂慮,因為明天自有明天的憂慮,一天的難處一天當就夠了。
郝思佳有一句名言為許多《飄》迷所推崇:無論如何,明天總是又換了一天了!看來,她才是最明白應該怎樣活著的智者。

The Easter is coming !

人生中的主角與配角
有內地聽眾在留言板上作下面提問:
古人說木有幾十種木,人有幾十等人。又有說有人是主角,有人是配角。請問這符合聖經真理嗎?
我對此提問作出下列回覆 :
植物界有不同種類樹木是不錯的,動物界有不同種動物也是明顯不過的,因此動植物學者能把之分門別類。但說到人類界,持具不同種人之說,就須小心作出思考,也不可隨便分門別類,且予以高低之分作評估。
按聖經所載,原先上帝造人有男有女,至少是有二性別之分,但那是同中有異,異中有同。因女原是從男骨頭中取出,此後男亦是從女腹中而產。二者彼此相屬,本沒高低之分,只有先後或是互助從屬的角色。
人生有不同劇場,會有以主角、配角分別,但那屬戲中戲編配的需要,屬角色的不一。人現實生活家庭中有父母子女,但誰是主角配角 ? 在公司中有上司下屬之別,但誰該是主角配角? 有時不易說明之,我看也沒需要作太多分別及說明。
人天生就有智愚之別且貧富懸殊。申命記十五11指出:「原來那地上的窮人永不斷絕……」主耶穌也曾說:「因為常有窮人與你們同在,只是你們不常有我。」(太二十六11)因此最好如箴言所說 : 求主叫我們既不貧窮也不富足啊 ! (箴卅7-9)
有所謂「智者治人、愚者治於人」,因此也就出現了社會階層甚或形成階級。不少歧視、差別接著而來,且因人的罪性表現無遺,產生了人的惡與社會極大的痛苦。
聖經中耶穌十二門徒中又有主角、配角之分嗎 ? 似乎最多說話的彼得像是主角,但結果他卻犯大錯三次不認主。主耶穌行事有偏心嗎 ? 祂常帶著彼得、雅各及約翰在旁,其他門徒卻像隱藏似的。那麼上述三位門徒更是主角嗎 ? 我不太肯定。
就算聖經中的人真有主角、配角之分,那又如何? 我們大抵同屬作主的僕人,有一天得要向祂交賬,而所要求我們作其管家的是要有忠心。
若我們自認屬主角者更應小心,因為出鏡多 (像恩賜給予多者),主要向其多要啊 !
與其花時間反思人有沒主角、配角,或比較誰才是主角配角,倒不如多努力按主所予以的作祂的工,有天蒙祂稱作是良善、忠信僕人更好吧 !

溝通
今天周牧師傳給我們核聽節目者很好的提醒,那是Peter Drucker下面的說話 :
「溝通的用語都與我們的經驗有關。通常我們關心自己預期的事物,大自然裡千萬種事務,我們預期的便能看到,我們預期的也容易聽到。預期以外的事務,就容易被忽略。溝通必然伴隨著要求、要求聽者變成某種人,做某件事,相信某件事。溝通必須打中聽者的動機。如果溝通的內容不符合聽者的願望、價值觀、動機、那麼聽者可能完全無法接收到溝通的內容,或者即使接收到,也會拒絕接受。」

天使行走的地方 !
看著胡燕青在時代論壇撰文述說海地地震一週年有如下數字
... 也真駭人聽聞,災後一年,災民仍住在帳幕裡。
此刻,海地更爆發出傳染性極高的霍亂,三千人已經喪命,
官方指十八萬人受感染,宣明會估計患病災民高達四十萬 ...
我很感受文末的說詁:
「海地,人間地獄,也正是天使行走的地方。
我雖然全無衝動,也許還有點不願意,我想我們還是應該捐一點錢,在天使
的背包裡添一點肥皂、清水、抗生素和用意志支撐起來的愛。」
我感受到存活的無奈、人力的限制,災難的痛楚。
天父啊!教我能好好過活,惟有你才是永恆的指望。

3 Ps
I read an essay from a book for the well-known coach John Wooden and got the following sights.
It's said that nowadays many just talked of performances and so pressure arises.
But what's more important and really matter is our having patience.
So the three Ps are more of Patience first rather than Performances under Pressures.
Then I just think of the following three questions,how can we coordinate well for these three ?
Do we lose patience with poor performance under pressure ?
Do we get better performance without pressure with more patience ?
Can we pressure ourselves for better performances together with patience ?
It's said that nowadays many just talked of performances and so pressure arises.
But what's more important and really matter is our having patience.

EPA in Numbers 9-10
I read Raymond Brown's book on Numbers of the BST series this morning.
I happened to find his exposition of ch 9-10 with the title of Three Dimensional Grace.
What he emphasized as the key words shown are Encouragement(E)from the past,Priorities (P)in the present and Assurances(A)for the future.
This is not Economics and Public Affairs (EPA) as we learnt in High school years BUT God's abundant provisons for His chosen people in the past as well as in we Churches these days.

Experiencing His disciplined prirorities in our daily lives now and have
Loving assurances from our Heavenly Father as we face up tomorrow ?
It's really important to have these EPAs to be our new perspective.
I happened to find his exposition of ch 9-10 with the title of Three Dimensional Grace.
What he emphasized as the key words shown are Encouragement(E)from the past,Priorities (P)in the present and Assurances(A)for the future.
This is not Economics and Public Affairs (EPA) as we learnt in High school years BUT God's abundant provisons for His chosen people in the past as well as in we Churches these days.
Do we have encouragements in our past walk with the Spirit,

On the 3 Es
The London Institute for Contemporary Christianity (LICC) is John Stott's invention.
This morning I received a recent note from their news.One is about their student ministry as follows:
Big Weekend: Equipping and Envisioning the Student Generation of the Church in the UK (11-13 Feb 2011)
I happened to take note of the key words in the title mentioned : equipping,envisioning and myself at once to add on a more conspicuous word empowering as used often these days everywhere. And so I got finally these 3 E s, i.e. Equipping, Envisioning and Empowering.
Are these three also what's mostly needed in our church nourishing and discipling ministries ?

As we begin our walk with God in 2011 we need to guard our hearts against certain attitudes that will keep us far from His heart. These include the mind of the proud who wants to know it all; the opinion of the critic who wants to judge it all; the attitude of the narcissist who wants to be it all; the desire of the covetous who wants to have it all.
Instead, walk with God in 2011 as a child. Never lose the simplicity of trust and the world of wonder that a child lives in from day to day. Walk with your eyes on your Father
— happy in His presence, content in His care, awed by His greatness, delighted by His surprises, secure in His love.
Let your prayer be similar to one spoken by Vance Havner, “Lord, let me never get used to living. Keep afresh in my heart a childlike wonder. Above all, let me never get used to being a Christian. Let me walk with a constant sense of surprise and expectancy. Why should there be a dull moment in the life of a Christian when every hour is a fresh adventure in faith and love?”
The following quote became the signature of the life of Gypsy Smith, the well known evangelist who lived into his eighties, “I have never lost the wonder.” May you never lose the simplicity of trusting His love and the wonder of watching Him work in marvelous ways.
