Two kinds of evil

I read this morning along my bus journey a book on the Apocalypse by Emil Bock, his explanation of the chapter12-13. Three central figures of ancient mythology are the woman, the dragon and the Archangel Michael. Dragon is the personification of the devil.
I do not know anything of astrology or astronomy to understand more of the author's elaboration. One certain thing however I agree is that modern man's consciousness might be quite different from ancient times when men were more familiar with different god stories.

Evil, according to the author,is not opposed to goodness, but is opposed to another evil. Two phrases captured my attention :

Evil is soul without spirit.
Evil is spirit without soul.

Olden times fit more of the first phrase while modern man rather inclined to the second phrase. It certainly makes us think at the point.
